Ωmega Sky Bar, η έκπληξη του καλοκαιριού

Σκέψου τώρα να πίνεις το cocktail σου ή το mocktail σου, την μπύρα ή το κρασάκι σου και να έχεις αυτήν τη θέα!

Κάθε φορά που ανακαλύπτω ένα καινούριο μέρος, μια καινούρια εμπειρία στην Κω, κάθε φορά που νιώθω λίγο "τουρίστας" στον τόπο μου, νιώθω την ανάγκη να το μοιραστώ μαζί σας.

Για το Ωmega ήξερα, γιατί δουλεύει εκεί ένας κολλητός του γιου μου και αγαπημένος μου πρώην μαθητής. Είχα μάθει για τα καταπληκτικά κοκτέιλ που φτιάχνουν εκεί, αλλά υποψιαζόμουν ότι θα είναι κάποιο στέκι για τη νεολαία και δίσταζα να πάω.

Τελικά, αποφασίσαμε με τη φίλη μου τη Μαρία να ανέβουμε τα σκαλιά που οδηγούν στο "Roof Top" πάνω από το Jackson's στην οδό Αβέρωφ 34, κι εκεί μας περίμενε μια πολύ ευχάριστη έκπληξη.

Το Ωmega Sky Bar είναι  μια "ταράτσα" με υπέροχη θέα στην παραλία και το λιμάνι, ρουστίκ διακόσμηση, μερικά μοναδικά -περισσότερο "μουσειακά" -διακοσμητικά αντικείμενα, όπως ένα παλιό πιάνο και μια τεράστια ιταλική κινηματογραφική μηχανή της δεκαετίας του '50.

Αν θέλετε να δοκιμάσετε υπέροχα κοκτέιλ, μπορείτε να διαλέξετε ανάμεσα σε μεγάλη ποικιλία με πιασάρικα ονόματα όπως: Ted's Cookie, Ωmega Royal Zombie, Little Red Riding Hood, Flamingo Gone Wild ή μόκτειλ (κοκτέιλ χωρίς αλκοόλ) όπως το Shame on You και You Must Be Joking (πολύ clever!). Μπορούν να σας φτιάξουν, όμως, και κοκτέιλ που δεν υπάρχουν στον κατάλογο. Απλά, εμπιστευτείτε τους ειδικούς. Εγώ από αλκοόλ πολλά δεν ξέρω, αλλά το ανέφερα σε ανθρώπους που γνωρίζουν και μου είπαν ότι σε ποικιλία και σε ποιότητα διαθέτουν μία από τις καλύτερες κάβες στο νησί. Πάντως, τα κοκτέιλ που πήραμε ήταν σούπερ!

Μικρές πινελιές που πήραν έξτρα πόντους:

• Η ευγένεια ΟΛΩΝ των σερβιτόρων
• η αγαπημένη μου σκηνή "Play it again Sam" από την ταινία Casablanca στο εξώφυλλο του καταλόγου
  
• να βλέπεις την άφιξη και την αναχώρηση του Blue Star καθώς βραδιάζει
• ένα παιχνιδιάρικο Laser που έκανε τις λέξεις Ωmega Sky Bar να χοροπηδούν στο πεζοδρόμιο έξω από το μαγαζί
• το πλαϊνό εξωτερικό τζάμι με την προσωπογραφία του Αριστοτέλη Ωνάση και το motto: "Party like Onassis"

Ωmega Sky Bar, the Surprise of the Summer

Just imagine sipping your cocktail, mocktail, beer, or glass of wine while enjoying this view!

Whenever I discover a new place or a new experience in Kos, whenever I get to feel a little like a tourist in my own hometown, I feel the need to share it with you.

I already knew about Ωmega because a close friend of my son and one of my favorite former students worked there. I had heard about the amazing cocktails they make, but I assumed it was mainly a hangout for younger people, so I was hesitant to visit.

Eventually, my friend Maria and I decided to climb the stairs leading to the rooftop above Jackson's, at 34 Averof Street, and there a very pleasant surprise was waiting for us.

Ωmega Sky Bar is a rooftop venue with magnificent views of the beach and harbor, rustic décor, and several unique—almost museum-worthy—decorative pieces, including an old piano and a huge Italian film projector dating back to the 1950s.

If you would like to try some outstanding cocktails, you can choose from a wide variety with catchy names such as Ted's Cookie, Ωmega Royal Zombie, Little Red Riding Hood, and Flamingo Gone Wild, or opt for alcohol-free mocktails such as Shame on You and You Must Be Joking (very clever!). They can also prepare cocktails that are not listed on the menu. Simply trust the experts.

I am not particularly knowledgeable about alcoholic drinks, but I mentioned the place to people who are, and they told me that, in terms of both variety and quality, Ωmega has one of the finest selections of spirits on the island. As for the cocktails we tried, they were excellent!

Small touches that earned extra points:

The kindness of every single member of the staff.

Watching the arrival and departure of the Blue Star ferry as evening falls.
