Ophrys sitiaca, Ορχιδέα, η οφρύς της Σητείας στην Κω

Όπως έχω ήδη αναφέρει σε προηγούμενα άρθρα, έχουν καταγραφεί 58 είδη ορχιδέας στην Κω. Μία απ' αυτές και η οφρύς της Σητείας. Τη συγκεκριμένη τη συνάντησα στο Ασφενδιού, Ιανουάριο μήνα.

Η ΚΙΤΡΙΝΗ ΟΡΧΙΔΕΑ, ophrys sicula

Ophrys cinereophila, η ορχιδέα που αγαπά τη στάχτη  φτάσαμε τα επτά είδη. Μένουν μόλις άλλα 51 για εντοπισμό και καταγραφή.

Ophrys sitiaca – The Sitia Ophrys Orchid in Kos

As I have already mentioned in previous articles, 58 species of orchid have been recorded on Kos. One of them is Ophrys sitiaca, known as the Sitia ophrys. I encountered this particular orchid in Asfendiou in January.

Together with my previous records:

• Orchis papilionacea – the butterfly orchid
• Serapias – the serapias orchid
• Orchis italica – the Italian orchid, also known as “satyr orchid”
• Ophrys speculum – the mirror orchid
• Ophrys sicula – the yellow ophrys
• Ophrys cinereophila — the orchid that “loves ashes”

this brings the total to six identified species so far. That leaves just 52 more to locate and document.
