ΑΓΙΟΣ ΜΑΜΑΣ, ΠΥΛΙ

Το εκκλησάκι του Αγίου Μάμμα(ντα),βρίσκεται στο Πυλί, ανήκει στην ενορία Αγίου Νικολάου Πυλίου και γιορτάζει στις 2 Σεπτεμβρίου.

Είναι ιδιωτικό παρεκκλήσι, ιδιοκτησίας-αρχικά-του Αντωνίου Χατζημιχάλη, και σύμφωνα με το βιβλίο "Ιερά Μητρόπολις Κώου και Νισύρου Παρελθόν και παρόν-του Ανδρέα Ιωσήφ Χατζημιχαήλ (χορηγός εκδόσεως Δήμος Κω, 2016)" κτήτορας είναι ο Π. Χατζημιχάλης.

Τοιχογραφίες που βρέθηκαν μέσα στο εκκλησάκι μαρτυρούν την παλαιότητά του.

Εκτός από τοιχογραφίες, πολλά αρχαία αρχιτεκτονικά μέλη βρίσκονται στο ναό κυρίως στο υπέρθυρο.

Είναι μία από τις τρεις εκκλησίες συνολικά στο νησί μας που είναι αφιερωμένες στον νεαρό Άγιο Μάμα. Οι άλλες δύο είναι:

SAINT MAMAS, PYLI

The small chapel of Saint Mamas is located in Pyli, belongs to the parish of Saint Nicholas of Pyli, and celebrates on September 2nd.

It is a private chapel, originally owned by Antonios Chatzimichalis, and according to the book “The Holy Metropolis of Kos and Nisyros – Past and Present” by Andreas Iosif Chatzimichail (published with the sponsorship of the Municipality of Kos, 2016), its founder is P. Chatzimichalis.

Wall paintings found inside the chapel testify to its antiquity.

In addition to frescoes, many ancient architectural elements can be found in the church, mainly above the lintel.

It is one of the three churches on our island dedicated to the young Saint Mamas. The other two are:

• Saint Mamas (Agios Minas area) – Holy Pilgrimage of the Metropolis of Kos and Nisyros

• Saint Mamas Kefalos (Parish of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary, Kefalos)
