Η νέα τάση στην εύκολη, γρήγορη και "πράσινη" μετακίνηση στην πόλη της Κω λέγεται Elerent και αποτελεί franchise στην Κω της ιταλικής startup μικροκινητικότητας Elerent. Τα ηλεκτρικά πατίνια λειτουργούν με μπαταρία, είναι επαναφορτιζόμενα και τα συναντήσαμε στη ΔΕΗ, αλλά υπάρχουν και σε πολλά ακόμα σημεία στην πόλη . Η χρήση τους είναι εύκολη και διευκολύνουν πολύ την μετακίνηση στην πόλη, κυρίως μέσω του ποδηλατόδρομου. (Ίσως γι' αυτό και επέλεξαν την Κω).

Η διαδικασία απλή. Κατεβάζετε την εφαρμογή Elerent από το PlayStore και το apple store, κάνετε λογαριασμό, δηλώνετε τηλέφωνο και πιστωτική κάρτα και μετά, με ένα απλό σκανάρισμα στο barcode επάνω στο πατίνι, μπορείτε να το δεσμεύσετε για όση ώρα θέλετε. Το κόστος για το ξεκλείδωμα είναι 1 ευρώ και κάθε λεπτό διαδρομής κοστίζει επιπλέον  0,26 λεπτά, ενώ δεν υπάρχουν συγκεκριμένα σημεία στάθμευσης. Ο κάθε ενδιαφερόμενος μπορεί να δει σε ποια σημεία της πόλης υπάρχουν διαθέσιμα πατίνια και το ποσοστό μπαταρίας κατεβάζοντας την εφαρμογή. Ο χρήστης μπορεί  να οδηγήσει το πατίνι και να το αφήσει όπου θέλει, χωρίς να υπάρχουν συγκεκριμένα σημεία που πρέπει να το παραδώσει. Αυτή είναι η καινοτομία του, οπότε μιας και τα Ηλεκτρικά πατίνια εξοπλίζονται με σύστημα εντοπισμού και μετάδοσης GPS/GPRS, μπορούν να εντοπιστούν ανά πάσα στιγμή.

Η εταιρεία προσφέρει κατά καιρούς 5λεπτες ή 10 λεπτες δωρεάν διαδρομές για να προωθήσει την χρήση της εφαρμογής.  

* Η Elerent προσφέρει υπηρεσίες ride sharing, tours με ελαφρά ηλεκτρικά οχήματα σε δημοφιλείς τουριστικούς προορισμούς σε Ιταλία και Ισπανία. Επίσης, διαθέτει και e-shop με ορισμένα μοντέλα ηλεκτρικών πατινιών, e-bikes και αυτοεξισορροπούμενων.

Μιας και η Κως και ο Δήμος Κω είναι αρκετά μπροστά στο θέμα της βιώσιμης μετακίνησης, (τον Μάρτιο έλαβε το σήμα πιστοποίησης «Bike Friendly Destination» από την αστική, μη κερδοσκοπική εταιρεία NatTour, σε συνεργασία με την Ελληνική Εταιρεία Προστασίας της Φύσης) και μιας και διαθέτει συνολικά πάνω από 15 χλμ. ποδηλατοδρόμων (6.500 ποδήλατα διαθέσιμα προς ενοικίαση, πολλά ορεινά μονοπάτια και διαδρομές για όλα τα επίπεδα) και είναι ευρέως γνωστή και ως «νησί του ποδηλάτου», μήπως σε λίγο καιρό γίνει γνωστή και ως το "νησί του ηλεκτρικού πατινιού?"

THE NEW TREND IN TRANSPORTATION!

The new trend in easy, fast, and “green” transportation in the city of Kos is called Elerent, a Kos franchise of the Italian micromobility startup Elerent. The electric scooters operate with batteries, are rechargeable, and we spotted them near the Public Power Corporation (DEI), although they can also be found at many other locations around the city. They are easy to use and greatly facilitate transportation around town, mainly through the bicycle lane. (Perhaps this is one of the reasons why they chose Kos.)

The process is simple. You download the Elerent app from the Play Store or the Apple Store, create an account, register your phone number and credit card, and then, with a simple scan of the barcode on the scooter, you can reserve it for as long as you want. The unlocking fee is 1 euro, and each minute of the ride costs an additional €0.26, while there are no specific parking stations. Anyone interested can see where scooters are available around the city, as well as their battery percentage, through the app. The user can ride the scooter and leave it wherever they wish, without having to return it to a designated spot. This is its innovation. Since the electric scooters are equipped with GPS/GPRS tracking and transmission systems, they can be located at any moment.

The company occasionally offers free 5-minute or 10-minute rides in order to promote the use of the application.

Elerent offers ride-sharing services and tours with light electric vehicles in popular tourist destinations in Italy and Spain. It also has an e-shop featuring selected models of electric scooters, e-bikes, and self-balancing vehicles.

Since Kos and the Municipality of Kos are already quite advanced in the field of sustainable transportation (in March, the island received the “Bike Friendly Destination” certification from the non-profit organization NatTour, in cooperation with the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature), and since Kos has more than 15 km of bicycle lanes in total (6,500 bicycles available for rent, many mountain trails, and routes for all levels) and is widely known as the “island of the bicycle,” perhaps in the near future it may also become known as the “island of the electric scooter”?
